1. Crystal structure
Ferritic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel have different crystal structures. The crystal structure of ferritic stainless steel is a face-centered cubic structure, while the crystal structure of martensitic stainless steel is a body-centered cubic structure. This is also one of the important reasons for the differences in performance and use between the two stainless steels.

2. Ingredients
Ferritic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel also have different compositions. Ferritic stainless steel contains lower chromium, usually between 12% and 30%, and also contains higher elements such as nickel, manganese and silicon. Martensitic stainless steel contains higher amounts of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and other elements.

3. Performance
Ferritic stainless steel and martensitic stainless steel also have differences in hardness, strength, plasticity and weldability. Ferritic stainless steel generally has better weldability and plasticity, but its strength and hardness are lower. Martensitic stainless steel usually has higher strength and hardness, but poor weldability and plasticity.
Ferritic stainless steel is widely used in some occasions that require high corrosion resistance and wear resistance, such as manufacturing decorative panels, kitchenware, medical equipment, etc. Martensitic stainless steel is mostly used to manufacture complex structural mechanical parts, automotive parts, blades and other occasions.
