This specification covers stainless steel pipe, electric fusion welded with the addition of filler metal, made from pressure vessel quality plate of any service analysis and strength grade, suitable for high pressure service at moderate temperatures. Heat treatment may or may not be required to obtain the desired properties or to comply with applicable code requirements. Supplementary requirements are provided for use when additional testing or inspection is required. This specification nominally covers pipe with an outside diameter of 16 inches (405 mm) or greater and a wall thickness of not more than 3 inches (75 mm). Pipe with other sizes may be supplied provided it meets all other requirements of this specification. Several grades and classes of pipe are offered. The grade specifies the type of plate used.
