Q235 Welded Round Steel

Q235 steel has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ and offers a tensile strength ranging from 370-500 MPa, with a minimum yield strength of 235 MPa for steel bar diameter or plate thickness ≤ 16mm .

The "Q" in Q235 signifies "Qu Fu Dian," which translates to Yield Point, and "235" refers to the minimum yield strength of 235 MPa tested with steel diameter ≤ 16mm .

The steel is composed of Carbon (C ≤ 0.22% for Q235A, decreasing to C ≤ 0.17% for Q235D), Silicon (Si ≤ 0.35%), Manganese (Mn up to 1.40%), Phosphorus (P ≤ 0.045% for Q235A, decreasing to P ≤ 0.035% for Q235D), and Sulfur (S ≤ 0.050% for Q235A, decreasing to S ≤ 0.035% for Q235D) .

Features and Applications:

Q235 steel is recognized for its good plasticity, toughness, weldability, and moderate strength, along with good cold bending performance .

It is commonly rolled into various shapes including wire rod, round steel, square steel, flat steel, angle steel, I-beams, channel steel, and steel plates .

The applications span across construction and engineering welded structures, manufacturing of steel bars for buildings, high voltage transmission towers, bridges, vehicles, boilers, containers, and other mechanical parts requiring less demanding performance such as rods, connecting rods, screws, nuts, ferrules, brackets, and stands .

Mechanical Properties:

Q235 steel exhibits a high tensile strength and good ductility, with an elongation at break usually around 26% .

The yield strength and elongation decrease with increasing thickness or diameter, with specific values provided for different ranges .
