S355J0H Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded Pipe Product Introduction
EN 10219 S355J0H is a cold-formed welded structural hollow steel pipe conforming to EN 10219 standard, with a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa (wall thickness ≤ 16 mm) and an impact energy of at least 27 J at 0°C. This steel pipe is manufactured using electric welding or submerged arc welding processes without subsequent heat treatment and is suitable for various building and engineering structural applications, including critical structural components for foundation support, such as pile foundations.
S355J0H Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded Pipe Manufacturing Process
Structural hollow profiles should be manufactured using electric welding or submerged arc welding (SAW). EN 10219 states that hollow profiles should be delivered in cold-formed form without subsequent heat treatment, but the weld seam can remain in the welded or heat-treated state. If submerged arc welding technology is used, it can be divided into longitudinal submerged arc welding (LSAW/SAWL) and spiral submerged arc welding (SSAW/HSAW) depending on the weld direction. Longitudinal submerged arc welding has significant advantages in manufacturing large-diameter, thick-walled steel pipes, especially suitable for applications with strict requirements for strength, quality, and dimensional accuracy.
JCOE is a very important and representative process in the production of LSAW steel pipe. The name of the process comes from the four main steps in the pipe-making process: J-forming, C-forming, O-forming, and Expanding.

The surface should be smooth and conform to the manufacturing method employed; protrusions, voids, or shallow longitudinal grooves resulting from the manufacturing process are permissible, provided their residual thickness is within tolerance. Surface defects may be removed by grinding, but the thickness of the repaired hollow section must not be less than the minimum permissible thickness specified in EN 10219-2.
