ASTM A789 Welded Tubing
O.D.: 6.035 milimeter To 152 milimeter
End: Plain End, Beveled End, Treaded Pipe, Screwed ends
A789 Welded Steel Pipe Description
A789 welded pipe is a stainless steel welded pipe manufactured according to the American standard (ASTM A789). The A789 standard is applicable to stainless steel pipes used in conditions that require general corrosion resistance and specifically emphasize resistance to stress corrosion cracking. This standard specifies grades with average wall thickness and, if clearly stated in the order, also applies to grades with minimum wall thickness.
It should be noted that these steels are sensitive to brittleness when used for long periods at high temperatures. Therefore, when selecting and using these steels, their performance in high-temperature environments must be considered to avoid material failure due to brittleness.
In summary, the ASTM A789 standard defines the specifications for stainless steel welded pipes suitable for specific corrosive environments, emphasizes their resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and highlights their sensitivity to brittleness under high-temperature conditions.

Mechanical Testing Requirements for A789 Stainless Steel Welded Pipes:
Tensile Test
For batches with fewer than 50 pipes, one tensile test should be conducted on a single specimen. For batches with more than 50 pipes, two tensile tests should be conducted on specimens from two different pipes.
Flange Test (for welded pipes)
From each batch of finished pipes, one flange test should be conducted using a specimen taken from one end of a single pipe.
Hardness Test
Brinell or Rockwell hardness tests should be conducted on specimens from two pipes in each batch. For pipes with an inside diameter of less than 0.354 inches (9.00 mm) and nominal wall thickness less than 0.065 inches (15 mm), Vickers hardness testing may be used as an alternative to Brinell or Rockwell methods.
When multiple heats are involved, tensile, flaring, flange, and hardness tests should be conducted for each heat.
Reverse Flattening Test:
For welded pipes, a reverse flattening test should be performed on one specimen from every 100 pipes (or 450 meters) from the finished pipes.
