ASTM A333 Heat Treatment of Straight Seam Welded Pipes
Heat treatment is a core step in the manufacturing process of ASTM A333 Gr.6 straight seam welded pipe, primarily employing normalizing. This process uniformly heats the steel pipe to its austenitizing temperature (approximately 900°C), holds it at that temperature, and then cools it in still air. This refines the grain size, homogenizes the microstructure, and completely eliminates residual stress generated during cold forming and welding. Consequently, it significantly improves the low-temperature impact toughness of the steel, ensuring excellent resistance to brittle fracture even in extremely cold environments down to -45°C, fully meeting the mandatory low-temperature service performance requirements of the ASTM A333 standard.
