A252 GR2 Nominal Wall Cylindrical Steel Pipe Piles

A252 GR2 is a medium grade steel pipe pile under ASTM A252/A252M, designed for medium to high load foundation works (e.g. bridges, harbour terminals, ultra-high-rise buildings), suitable for permanent structural support or cast-in-place concrete pile shell.
Grade Comparison: Among the three grades of ASTM A252, GR2 has a strength between Gr.1 (Conventional) and Gr.3 (Extreme Load), with a tensile strength ≥415 MPa, and it is suitable for common projects with high load carrying capacity requirements.
Chemical composition:
Mild steel material, carbon content ≤ 0.05%, containing silicon, manganese and other elements, carbon equivalent optimised to balance welding performance and strength requirements.
Mechanical properties:
Tensile strength ≥ 415 MPa, yield strength ≥ 240 MPa;
The elongation is adjusted according to the wall thickness, e.g. ≥25% for wall thickness ≥7.9mm.
Manufacturing process:
High-frequency resistance welding (ERW) or large diameter straight seam double-sided submerged arc welding (LSAW) process is adopted to ensure weld uniformity and strength stability;
The nominal wall design (Nominal Wall Thickness) meets the standard tolerance requirements, and the wall thickness ranges from 2.8mm to 50.8mm.
Typical specifications:
OD range: 219mm to 1422.2mm (larger sizes can be customised);
Lengths: Standard lengths from 5m to 12.3m are supported, but can also be customised to meet project requirements.
