SAWH Steel Pipe Description
Spiral submerged arc welded steel pipe is a new type of steel pipe production method. It uses strip steel coils as raw materials, which are often hot extruded and shaped, and welded into spiral seam steel pipes using automatic double-wire double-sided submerged arc welding technology. Its production equipment is more advanced compared to traditional steel pipe production methods, resulting in higher production efficiency. It is commonly used for liquid transportation and structural purposes.

Inspection of Spiral Steel Pipe Quality
- The spiral steel pipe after production needs to undergo an appearance inspection. The inspection of the welded joint is a simple procedure, which mainly looks for defects on the weld surface and dimensional deviations. We can observe directly and test with tools such as gauges and magnifying glasses. If there are defects on the surface of the weld, there may also be defects within the weld.
- There is also a physical inspection method. This method mainly utilizes certain physical phenomena for inspection. For defects inside materials or parts, non-destructive inspection methods such as ultrasonic testing, X-ray inspection, penetrant inspection, and magnetic inspection are used.

Strength Test of Pressure Vessels
There are generally two ways to conduct the strength test: hydraulic test and air pressure test. Among them, the air pressure test is more sensitive and faster than the hydraulic test, and the spiral steel pipe does not need to be drained after the test. However, this test is more challenging than the hydraulic test. Throughout the entire testing process, it is necessary to adhere to the corresponding technical measures, which are also for your own safety. -
Compactness Test
This method is primarily used for welding containers designed to store liquids or gases. If the weld exhibits no penetrating cracks, pores, slag, impermeability, or loose structure, it can pass the compactness test. Specific test methods include kerosene testing, water testing, etc. -
Hydrostatic Test
This test is mainly to check for any leakage in the steel pipe during the hydrostatic test (note: the test pressure is calculated using P = 2ST / D, where S is the hydrostatic test pressure in MPa, and the hydrostatic test pressure is 60% of the prescribed yield strength, with the adjustment times as follows: for D < 508, the test pressure shall not be less than 5 seconds; for D ≥ 508, the test pressure shall not be less than 10 seconds).
