Manufacturing Process of Cold-Formed ASTM A500 Gr.B ERW Welded Pipe

Cold-formed ASTM A500 Gr.B ERW welded pipe is manufactured using a high-frequency resistance welding process. First, cold-rolled steel strip is progressively formed into a tubular shape through multiple precision roll forming passes. Then, the edges of the pipe blank are instantaneously heated to a molten state using a high-frequency current (100-400kHz), achieving metal self-fusion under the action of extrusion rolls. Immediately after welding, online normalizing treatment is performed to refine the weld grain. Finally, a mechanical diameter expansion process precisely controls the roundness and straightness of the pipe, ensuring that the finished product meets the stringent requirements of ASTM A500 standard for structural pipes: outer diameter tolerance ±0.5% and yield strength ≥290MPa.
