A252 Straight seam welded pipe is welded using the resistance welding process for welded pipe. Specification requirements for straight seam welded steel pipe pile, longitudinal specimen should be parallel to the axis of the steel pipe, taken at 90" from the weld seam, or from the corresponding position of the welded pipe bad. Transverse specimen should be 90 ° angle with the axis of the steel pipe, 180 "from the weld to take, or from the welded pipe bad from the corresponding position to take. Finished steel pipe piles shall be reasonably straight and free from defects of such quantity or nature as to render the pipe unsuitable for use as a steel pipe pile. Surface imperfections not exceeding 25% of the nominal wall thickness in depth are permitted. The depth of these imperfections may be determined by grinding or sexing. Surface imperfections with a depth exceeding 25% of the nominal wall thickness shall be considered as defects. Weld patching is permitted for such defects when the depth of the defect does not exceed 33%;%. Prior to weld patching, the defect shall be removed in its entirety.
