This steel pipe is manufactured through the electric resistance welding process and has unique performance characteristics and a wide range of applications.
A135 electric resistance welded steel pipe sizes range from NPS 2 to NPS 30 (DN 50 to DN 750), with a nominal (average) wall thickness of up to 0.500 inches (12.70 mm). For smaller sizes of steel pipes (NPS 1/4 to NPS 5, DN 20 to DN 125), the nominal (average) wall thickness ranges from 0.083 inches (2.11 mm) to 0.134 inches (3.40 mm).
The A135 standard specifies two grades of electric resistance welded steel pipe, but only Grade A is suitable for flanging and bending. This means that in specific application scenarios, when the steel pipe needs to have a specific shape change capability, Grade A steel pipe should be selected.
Depending on the manufacturer's choice, A135 electric resistance welded steel pipe can be provided in non-expanded or cold-expanded versions. When cold-expanded steel pipe is selected, its expansion shall not exceed 1.5% of the outer diameter of the pipe size to ensure that the steel pipe maintains its structural integrity and performance stability during the expansion process.
